Timeless is Trending – Ensure your bathroom stands the test of time

Avoiding those fleeting interior trends and design faux pas.

A new bathroom is undoubtedly a big investment and interior trends seem to be moving faster than ever making it hard to stay abreast of what’s in and what’s out in the world of bathrooms.

Here at Ribble Valley Bathrooms our mantra is this – ignore all of the ‘trend’ advice and stay true to yourself, your tastes and what suits your home. Here is how …

Marry Feelings & Function

Bathrooms are increasingly becoming less functional and more homely with a focus on escapism and self care. So start by thinking about how you want your bathroom to make you feel? Are you looking to create a spa-like retreat after a busy day, or is it a high traffic area for a busy family? Maybe it’s a mixture of both. The next step is looking at the more practical elements of the design – the size of your space, budget and layout constraints. Marrying these two pieces of the puzzle together is a crucial first stage in understanding what you need from your design.

Buy the best you can afford

It’s important to remember that a bathroom will last up to 15 years before it needs upgrading, longer if you invest in high quality bathroom furniture, tiles and hardware. So make sure that you are thinking about longevity when it comes to your design. You might be tempted by those statement tiles but will you still love them in five years time? What are the core elements that you are investing in that will be expensive to replace? With sanitaryware, flooring and tiles stick to classic styles and always buy the best that your budget can afford.

DON’T BE AFRAID TO ADD COLOUR AND PERSONALITY:

There is a reason why some design features never go out of style – subway style tiles, roll-top baths and classic shaped hardware have been ‘trending’ for hundreds of years. So if you want to keep your bathroom timeless, then look to those enduring design trends of the past.
